Call to Action — November 2025

Friends, with the shutdown and cruel attack on SNAP benefits, local families are in need of our help more than ever.

What can we do?

  1. Bring two nonperishable food items to this month’s Democratic Meeting on Saturday, November 15th at 10am at the Cedar City Library.
These items will be collected and distributed to our local Iron County Care and Share as well as the food pantry in Parowan.

  2. Consider getting involved in and helping local efforts to keep our local community fed during these rough times:
    • The Mash and Mingle Community Meal is scheduled for this Saturday, November 15th,  at 1pm at 2830 West Cody Drive in Cedar City. Contact Riley Cooper for ways to help and attend: (801) 739-6557. RSVPs are much appreciated.
    • The Ripple Effect in Cedar City, Utah. Contact Charliee Lasley via Facebook messenger for ways to help provide or deliver the grocery needs of fellow Cedar City families impacted by the loss of SNAP benefits.
    • Manos Amigas and their local efforts to support undocumented citizens and their families in Southern Utah. Contact Sarah Thomas at (435) 590-8172 for available opportunities.
  1. Contact your representatives and express your outrage over their failure to act in protecting SNAP benefits and tax credits for healthcare.
    • Sample Script: “Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from Cedar City. I’m extremely concerned about the impact of the government shutdown on SNAP and WIC benefits for millions of Americans. I’m calling to urge [REP or SENATOR] to demand the use of any available funding sources to keep these programs fully funded while still holding firm against any federal budget deal that does not extend the ACA tax credits. Thank you for your time and consideration.”
